Message from the President:

Benedicta Du-Baladad

To FINEX members and friends,

PRESIDENT’S REPORT
June 2017 Issue

The Special Joint Testimonial Luncheon in honor of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Amando M. Tetangco, Jr. on May 24 was a huge success. FINEX, as the lead convenor, together with AMCHAM, CIBI Foundation, ECCP, MAP, MBC and PCCI, honored and celebrated Gov. Tetangco’s 12 years of successful leadership that leads to our country’s monetary stability and economic growth.

During the event, FINEX awarded him a professorial chair under the Ateneo’s School of Social Sciences, Department of Economics, named “FINEX-GOV. AMANDO M. TETANGCO, JR. PROFESSORIAL CHAIR FOR MONETARY POLICY AND FINANCIAL SECTOR DEVELOPMENT.” FINEX donated P 1.5 million to serve as a perpetual fund which will be used to award professorial chairs in the field of economics, particularly on monetary policies and financial sector development, or to fund research related to these studies.

Governor Tetangco expressed his deep appreciation to FINEX for the organization’s support to him and to the BSP as we jointly promote financial eduation.

Today, in celebration of the Philippine Independence, we are having two of the country’s prime-movers of arts and culture. We are delighted to have Arch. Paulo Alcazaren as he shares with us the relevance of national heritage conservation and Direk Joel Lamangan on the state of the local film industry and how it is developing as an art as a manifestation of a growing Filipino film culture.

Earlier today, we had our special membership meeting. I urge your strong support to the matters which were taken up during the meeting. Kindly sign the approval forms for the amendments to the FINEX’ and FINEX Foundation’s Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws, particularly on the extension of the corporate life of FINEX.

In addition, we likewise seek your support by approving the sale of the FINEX Foundation’s Philippine Dealing System Holdings Corp. (PDSHC) shares to the PSE. If you may recall, in 2015, we have secured the written assent of the 75% of total membership to proceed with the transaction but due to some concerns, the transaction did not push through. This year, the PSE is once again proposing to buy the PDSHC shares of the FINEX Foundation on the new terms. We are hoping to receive your support on this very important transaction.
